Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere.
Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere. If you like trips by water, it is a good place to visit but a bit lacking in things to do apart from that. There is a good bus service to Kendal or Keswick but leave the car and use public transport. You can go to Ambleside by boat or bus but the town is packed during the summer season.

The view from the window, presentation of the property, decor of the room, bottle of water on arrival. Closeness of township.
The staircase was a challenge and heating could have been better controlled.

The location was just perfect.
The location was just perfect. It was central for us to adventure out and explore the Lake District. It was also an exciting location for relaxation in the evenings. Lots of fine restaurants and pubs to choose from with a lovely holiday atmosphere abounding everywhere.
Regretfully the car ferry was out of order and not available to us. That was a bit of a nuisance as our touring plans had envisaged that being available. None the less we had a fabulous holiday and were not overly put-out by the loss.

It is so easy going in Bowness we try to come here as often as we can. There’s something to do for everyone young and old. We have a dog now and he’s so relaxed here many places are dog friendly. Bars and restaurants brilliant especially Italians on the Main Street. Our favourite place can’t wait to come back

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Westbourne, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better – it was so close to both the lake and the town, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. There was a bus stop as well right outside the hotel. The manager was so friendly and took the time to provide us with valuable recommendations for places to visit in the area. There was free parking available at the hotel as well.
Great B&B. Super position with a short walk to the centre of Bowness on Windermere (where the ferries go from). Had an excellent stay. Host's really friendly and cared and made a great effort to make our stay welcome. Nothing too much trouble. Beds lovely and comfy (we had two rooms). Excellent stay and would definitely stay again.
The location was spectacular, very quiet yet only minutes walking distance from the lake and shops etc... So much choice for food and entertainment. We chose to eat out rather than have breakfast at the hotel, this was only because we were up and out. We are already thinking of staying again next year! Loved the place.
Absolutely fantastic staff. Particular thanks to Mike who was an absolute star.
Ladies on reception very helpful and breakfast staff always making sure everything ran smoothly.
Hotel was lovely, very glad to have paid for Lake view.
Would definitely return.
Wonderfully spacious room; excellent WiFi; superlatively friendly proprietors Clare and Robert; great breakfast; easy walk to town centre and lake. F-35 flypasts over Lake Windermere from RAF base to the north an unexpected bonus!
Great little apart hotel spread across cottage units in heart of Bowness on Windermere. Boutique feel with very comfy bed and own dedicated front door. Fridge in the room and full en-suite wetroom.
The spa was so beautiful. The staff were delightful and everything was of such a high standard. The staff, location and hotel itself exceeded our expectations. Would definitely come again.

we visited the spa which was a good size and relaxing.
Hotel location was great, just outside the main tourist area but with easy access to good pubs and restaurants. The lake view from the room we had (12) is exceptional.
Staffs are friendly and helpful, the location is great, close to Bowness on Windermere but private. The hotel and the garden is beautiful and the Fell Suite is awesome.
Lovely hotel, great location, But looking a little shabby, could do with better coffee making facilities like a coffee machine in room but the cereal great stay
